80. Ivysaur
Poor Bulbasaur, Ivysaur and Venusaur. Not only are they the least loved starters, but Grass type is just not all that useful in game after the first few badges. I do like the design and name for Ivysaur; there’s definite synergy there. But Ivysaur has the least impact on the show and in game compared to the other evolutions.

79. Dratini
Dratini has a very cool design. There’s a mystical feel that isn’t present with most other Pokemon. But while it eventually turns into the awesome Dragonite, Dratini itself doesn’t learn that many great moves, and without them, the Dragon type doesn’t do much.

78. Arbok
Arbok! It’s Kobra spelled backwards! Like its pre-evolution, I like the dumb pun name. But while the design has a nice aggressive feel, it’s basically just a purple cobra snake. And as I’ve said this whole post, poison types mostly suck. But, Jessie does make great use of her Arbok in the show.

77. Vileplume
Vileplume brings Oddish’s original cuteness back after the weird departure of Gloom, but also adds a dark magic feel. Vileplume looks like something you’d see inĀ Alice in Wonderland, and I like that. And, as with its predecessors, Vileplume gets points for learning plenty of debilitating Poison moves.

76. Meowth
Everyone knows the smart mouthed Meowth from the tv show. If there’s one character that comes close to the fame of Pikachu, it’s probably Meowth. The design is very well done, too. Unlike Persian, it’s more than just a cat. Instead, it’s a humanized version of a cat. And, like humans, it’s obsessed with money.

75. Nidoqueen
Nidoqueen is a very middle of the road Pokemon when it comes to final evolutions. It’s certainly not terrible, with high defense and HP, but its moveset isn’t all that great. I like the design more than Female Nidoran or Nidorina, though.

74. Machoke
Machoke could be really cool looking if it wasn’t for those horrible red stripes on its arms. The power belt around its middle is supposed to help control its immense strength, but I think it just looks like a professional wrestler. However, I will say that I like its moveset.

73. Rhyhorn
I recently decided to use Rhyhorn in my most recent playthrough, since I almost always go with Geodude from early on. It only appears in the Safari Zone and is kind of hard to catch, which hurts its score, but I really like the rhyno inspired design and name. It’s not a terrible Pokemon to have in your party.

72. Starmie
Misty uses her Starmie a lot in the show and as her final Pokemon during the second badge in game, and for good reason. It has the relatively unique Water type ability to use some Psychic moves, which can be annoying to fight against. It’s a great Water Pokemon option.

71. Slowpoke
Slowpoke is well known for its stupidly cute face and Psyduck-like obliviousness. While it isn’t all that great in game, it makes great appearances on the show and is a great representation for the Pokemon brand with its memorable, perfectly on the nose name.
